Farms Creamery, makers of the Kalona SuperNaturalTM fluid milk and butter products, is expanding its current facility to accommodate a new quality lab and additional milk processing facilities. In addition to the expansion at the current location outside of Wellman, Iowa, the creamery has jointly purchased a 40,000 square foot building with Farmer’s Hen House near Frytown, Iowa.
The new building outside of Frytown serves as the company’s expanded warehouse facility and is home to AwesomeRefrigerated Transit of Iowa (ARTI), a sister company to Farmers Creamery that transports Kalona SuperNaturalTM products and provides transportation services to other customers. In the future, additional capabilities will be added to the Frytown facility including milk receiving, processing, and new production capabilities.
“We have experienced significant growth over the last few years and were feeling incredibly constrained with our existing creamery,” says Bill Evans, Farmers Creamery and ARTI CEO. “This expansion allows us to meet our customer’s needs, create new jobs in rural Iowa, and enhance our long-term collaborative relationship with Farmer’s Hen House.” Evans adds, “We are very excited about the future of our family of companies,” says Evans.
Farmers Creamery, ARTI, and Kalona Organics, owners of the Kalona SuperNaturalTM brand, are all separate entities working as a family of businesses in the rural Kalona area.
