Tamale Pie – Cinco De Mayo

Use your favorite organic milk and butter to make this delicious Tamale Pie recipe. Spice up your Cinco De Mayo party or any weekend get together.


2 lbs Organic Ground Beef

1 chopped medium onion

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 chopped green pepper

2 cups of chopped tomatoes tomatoes

16oz whole corn (frozen or canned)

1 small diced Jalapeno (remove seeds for less heat)

*slice three thin rounds from the top of the Jalapeno for garnish

2 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon white pepper

1⁄2 cup cornmeal

1 cup water

2 cups Kalona SuperNatural Organic Whole Milk

2 tablespoons Kalona SuperNatural Organic Unsalted Butter

1 cup cornmeal


Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Fry hamburger and drain.
Add the onions, green pepper and garlic; cook until onions are golden.
Add tomatoes, corn, jalapenos, salt and white pepper, and chili powder; stir and add cornmeal.
Pour this all in a 13×9-inch pan.
In a sauce pan pour in 2 cups milk, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons butter and 1 cup of corn meal.
Stir until thick (it thickens fast).
Pour mixture on top of the hamburger mixture. If you desire, sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
Place the three jalapeno rounds on the top of the cornmeal mixture prior to placing in the oven.
Bake until golden, about 45 minutes to 1 hour
