Emily’s journey with Kalona SuperNatural began 12 years ago when her mother insisted she feed her toddler organic dairy. Initially, like so many of our customers, Emily started with our whole milk, vanilla yogurt, and cottage cheese. She discovered firsthand the difference that pasture-raised, grass-fed dairy makes for growing families.
Choosing Organic Dairy
What makes Emily’s story remarkable is how it evolved from customer loyalty to genuine partnership. Ten years ago, when we celebrated our first decade milestone, Emily drove to our anniversary party. She was joined by her mother, who traveled 2.5 hours to be there. As Emily laughingly recalls, “I’m pretty sure we were the only consumers there,” but that didn’t matter. What mattered was being part of something bigger than just buying groceries.
From Customer to Champion
Emily’s transition from customer to team member happened organically. When we posted on social media looking for someone to demonstrate our products in grocery stores, Emily stepped up. She became our “demo girl,” introducing shoppers to the Almost Raw difference. This includes the rich taste and nutrition from our low-temperature vat pasteurization and non-homogenization process.
For eight years, Emily shared our story with customers face-to-face. She explained how our small family farm partners practice regenerative farming and why minimal processing matters. She didn’t just hand out samples; she shared her own family’s experience with our products.
Now, as our full-time Director of Marketing, Emily brings that authentic customer perspective to everything we do. From the beginning, she understands what resonates with families because she’s lived it herself. From that first recommendation from her mother to watching her own child thrive on our organic dairy, she has seen it all.
Looking Ahead: 20 Years of Milk as it was Meant to Be
As we approach our 20th anniversary, Emily is helping us plan a celebration that honors both our heritage and our future. Just as our farming practices regenerate the land, our relationships with customers like Emily regenerate our mission every day.
