2018 RAGBRAI Cyclists Recover with Chocolate Milk

We often hear that cyclists love to recover with chocolate milk after a race. To support their commitment to a healthy lifestyle, we thought it’d be perfect to offer our organic chocolate milk to athletes participating in the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI). This year Kalona is a designated meeting town on Friday, July 27, 2018. Our sister company, Kalona Creamery, will have roadside stand on the route (2 miles before Kalona) stocked with protein packed, nutrient-dense essentials, like cheese curds and organic chocolate milk! Kalona SuperNatural is happy to supply high quality dairy, naturally balanced with key macronutrients including protein and carbohydrates. Open 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., the stand accepts cash and all major credit and debit cards.

Optimal Nutrition

Chocolate milk offers nutrition central to recovery after a workout. Tired muscles want insulin to jumpstart recovery process, which happens when chocolate milk enters the body. A recommended 4:1 ratio of carbohydrates to protein is present in the drink. Key micronutrients such as a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes replenish the body’s stores. Recovering with chocolate milk is a smart choice for athletes.
