This no-churn ice cream recipe is one of our favorite summer recipes, and for good reason. It’s simple, it’s fun, and it lets you make whatever flavor you’re craving. No ice cream maker needed! Just a jar, a little muscle, and your favorite mix-ins. And once you’ve made it once, you’ll probably want to make it again with a different flavor the very next week.

Why the Cream Matters
We love this no-churn ice cream recipe because it starts with Kalona SuperNatural Organic Whipping Cream and Organic Whole Milk. Both come from grass-fed cows on small family farms here in the Midwest, and both are low-temp vat pasteurized and non-homogenized. That means the cream keeps its natural structure, which is exactly what you want for a recipe like this. Simple ingredients, simple process, great result. When you’re starting with cream this good, you don’t need much else to make something worth scooping.
A Fun One for the Whole Family
It’s also just a fun one to make! Kids love getting in on the shaking, and it’s a great activity for a hot afternoon when you need something to do besides sit in front of the fan. No fancy equipment, no long ingredient list, just a jar and some patience. Pass the jar around and take turns shaking if your arms get tired. It’s a small thing, but it makes this no-churn ice cream recipe feel more like a project than a chore.
Make It Your Own
The base stays the same every time, but the flavor is completely up to you. Cookies and cream, strawberry swirl, classic chocolate chip, the options go on and on. It’s a great way to use up whatever fruit or leftover baking bits you have sitting around the kitchen. However you make it, this no-churn ice cream recipe is one you’ll come back to all summer. What flavor would you make?

No-Churn Ice Cream Recipe in a Jar!
Ingredients
1/2 cup Kalona SuperNatural Organic Whipping Cream
1 tbsp sweetened condensed milk or honey
1 tbsp Kalona SuperNatural Organic Whole Milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional: Mix in chocolate, fudge, or fruit!
Instructions
- Pour whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk (or honey, see note), Whole Milk, and vanilla extract into a pint-sized mason jar with a tight-fitting lid.
- Seal the jar tightly and shake vigorously for 5 to 10 minutes, until the cream has thickened and roughly doubled in volume. You should feel the mixture go from sloshy to soft and cushioned when you shake it.
- Open the jar and gently fold in 2 tbsp mix-ins or toppings, such as mini chocolate chips, crushed cookies, or fruit. Try not to overmix, since you want to keep the air you just shook into the cream.
- Reseal the jar (or transfer to a small freezer-safe container) and freeze until firm.
- Let the jar sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly, then scoop and enjoy straight from the jar.
